Is the Guinness Storehouse worth it?

Yes, a Guinness Storehouse visit is worth it if you like beer, brand history or a high view over Dublin. The Guinness Storehouse experience is a self-guided show over seven floors. It ends with a drink in the Gravity Bar at the top.

Know what you are paying for. It is an exhibition about brewing, not a walk past a working brewery floor. If you do not drink and do not care about the story, you can skip it.

The plain ticket from €37 on GetYourGuide is the cheapest way in on this page. The Storehouse says its own adult tickets start from €26 online, and €2 more at the door.

How to choose: self-guided, tasting or a whiskey combo

Pick the plain entry ticket unless you want a guide or whiskey too. It gives you the full visit and the drink for the least money.

  • Plain entry ticket: you set the pace, and you choose your own time slot.
  • Bus bundle: good on a first day, when you also want to ride around the city.
  • Roe & Co walk: a guide, a whiskey trail and a distillery stop. Not for children 12 and under.
  • Guinness and Jameson: both big drinks visits in about 4 hours. Not for children 12 and under or wheelchair users.

Guided Guinness tours in Dublin

Inside the Storehouse the visit is self-guided. A guide comes only with a combo tour, like the two whiskey combos above. These Guinness tours in Dublin add the story on the walk between stops.

What you see and do inside, floor by floor

You walk up through seven floors of displays about Guinness and St James's Gate, where the story starts in 1759. The visit is self-guided, so you move at your own speed.

The Storehouse also sells extra sessions, like STOUTie and the Guinness Academy. They are for over-18s only and add about 30 minutes each. The Connoisseur Experience takes about 1 hour 15 minutes.

The tasting room and the Gravity Bar

Your ticket includes one drink in the Gravity Bar. You can choose a pint of Guinness, another beer, Guinness 0.0 or a soft drink. You can only get into the Gravity Bar with a tour ticket.

Opening hours and the best time to go

The quietest time, the Storehouse says, is Tuesday to Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00. Go then if you want room at the Gravity Bar.

Opening hours are 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, 09:30 to 18:00 on Saturday and 09:30 to 17:00 on Sunday. The building stays open about two hours longer. The Storehouse says hours can change.

Sensory Friendly Hours run on the first Wednesday of each month, from 09:00 to 12:00.

Guinness Storehouse tour length

Allow at least 90 minutes for the self-guided visit. Add about 30 minutes for each extra session you book. The two guided whiskey combos take about 4 hours in all.

How to get to the Guinness Storehouse

The easiest way is a taxi, or the hop-on hop-off bus if you buy the bus bundle. The Storehouse names FREENOW as a taxi app you can use.

If you need step-free access, use the accessible entrance and drop-off on Market Street. Press the call button there. Accessible parking spaces are at the Crane Street car park.

For buses, trams and fares, see our Dublin getting-around guide.

Make a day of it: what is nearby

Kilmainham Gaol is the big sight to pair with the Storehouse. You can only see it on a guided tour, and you must book on its own website. Tickets from other sellers are refused at the door.

Dublin Castle is closed to the public until January 2027, but you can still see it from outside. See our Dublin Castle guide for the tours that pass it.

For the evening, an evening in Temple Bar is the classic next stop. Our Temple Bar guide lists the short tours there.

Guinness, Jameson or Teeling: which brewery or distillery visit fits

Pick Guinness for beer and a view, and a distillery if you prefer whiskey.

  • Guinness Storehouse: from €37 on GetYourGuide, at least 90 minutes, a drink in the Gravity Bar.
  • Jameson Distillery Bow St.: the guided tour with tastings is from €31 on GetYourGuide and takes 45 minutes.
  • Teeling Whiskey Distillery: its own site lists tastings from €22 for 50 minutes.

Before you book the Guinness Storehouse

  1. Your slot is 15 minutes

Arrive five minutes before your time slot. If you miss it, the Storehouse moves you to the next free slot, and you pay more if that slot costs more.

  2. If your plans change

The Storehouse's own tickets are non-refundable, but you can change the date for free up to 24 hours ahead. The four tickets on this page show free cancellation on GetYourGuide.

  3. GetYourGuide is a named seller

The Storehouse lists GetYourGuide as one of its recognised ticket sellers. It warns that tickets bought from other sellers are at your own risk.

  4. With children

Under-18s are welcome with an adult, and they get a soft drink. They cannot have alcohol or Guinness 0.0. The two guided combos do not take children 12 and under.

  5. Bags and coats

You can leave luggage during the visit, but not coats or jackets. Wheelchairs are free to borrow at the Information Desk, if one is free.
